Polyoxymethylene + Polyoxymethylene (POM+PE)
Polyoxymethylene copolymer with approx. 10% of high-molecular-weight Polyethylene. The PE additive acts as a dry lubricant and provides considerably better properties in dry and emergency running.
Its low friction coefficient with steel (0.19) is significantly lower than other thermoplastics (PA6 = 0.30 and PP = 0.40). The Polyethylene additive gives quieter operation and self-lubrication for slip bearings. The minimum water intake (0.14 %) provides dimensional stability. Machine parts have good wear resistance and therefore high durability. Its composition allows it to be used in the food industry . To distinguish it from classical POM it is dyed pale blue.
Use of Polyoxymethylene:
- bearing housing
- slip plates
- dynamically loaded construction components
Polysulfone (PSU) and Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU)
They have great strength, hardness and rigidity over a wide temperature range. Can be used continuously at temperatures up to + 180 °C, excellent thermal stability, distortion temperature under heat and creep resistance. They are resistant to hydrolysis, are sterilizable and resistant to gamma-radiation. Theyallow the passage of X-rays. They are translucent and transparent high-temperature plastics that are easily welded. Their electrical properties make them good insulators..
Areas of use:
- medical technology
- sealing
- retaining segment
- piston valve
